Hitting the Wall
It's the end of the semester. Classes are over, and all that remains are two finals, two papers, and a revision of a previous paper. After Wednesday night I am finished with my first semester back at school. Boy, am I ready for the break. I love the reading for my English classes. I love the discussion that follows. What I do NOT love are the daily assignments and the papers. Check that; I don't mind the papers. Some of them I've rather enjoyed writing this semester, if not for the fact that they're usually done the night before they're due. Perhaps I can change that strategy some next semester! ; )
I have neglected my blog for awhile now. I just haven't had much inspiration to write, and I have been fairly busy with the end of the semester. This Saturday Jillian and I head out on a road trip to Illinois to spend our first Christmas since we started dating with my family. On the way out we're making two stops in Ohio, first for lunch with some cousins of Jill's, and then for a two-night stop in Columbus with Phil and Sarah. I'm really looking forward to this. We get to see Sarah in the concluding weekend of her professional acting gig, the Columbus Children's Theatre's performance of "Ebenezer." Sunday night I'm hoping to go with Phil to check out the Landing Place and their final Advent gathering. Monday morning we'll head our for our final destination in Illinois.
I'm also stoked about my brother, Richie, coming back to PA with us for a five-day visit. Other than the weekend our our wedding, he hasn't been in Scranton. We're looking forward to some good times introducing him to the Northern Light Espresso Bar and to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins hockey team.
Other than that...I started reading Thomas Merton's Asian Journal and The Complete Works of Saint John of the Cross. I'm looking forward over the holiday break to some reading time for me, as opposed to reading time for class. I'll let you know how that goes.
