Stuck in an Intellctual Reality
I came across a quote at the bottom of the Allelon Ministries website while taking a break from writing, and damn if it's not convicting.
Over the past two years I have been absorbing all of this knowledge from writers like Merton over the past; I've been trying to expand and stretch my theology by reading interviews, articles, essays, and other items; and as of this fall I'm forced to gain knowledge through literature due to my choice to re-start my university studies as an English Secondary Education major. What has been creeping through my mind (I mentioned it in this entry on Phil's blog yesterday) is the fact that I see myself making few changes in my life even when what I'm reading is ringing true to my mind and my spirit. I'm not sure my acts of love are keeping pace with my acquisition of knowledge.
God, help me.
"Beware you be not swallowed up in books! An ounce of love is worth a pound of knowledge." ~ John Wesley
