A New Semester Begins
I know, I know. It's been almost a full month since I last blogged. But give me a break; Jillian and I made a trip to Illinois to visit my family, stopping along the way to spend a few nights in the Short North of Columbus, Ohio with Phil and Sarah. We were gone for about 8 days, and upon our return we were entertaining my brother for the week. Here are a few of the highlights:
- Getting to Columbus before 7 p.m. Saturday night and wasting little time before hitting Phil's favorite local brew pub, followed by some God talk.
- Visiting the Landing Place with Phil Sunday morning and again for their Advent celebration Sunday night.
- Seeing the new star of the Columbus Children's Theatre, Sarah, perform in the role of Mrs. Cratchit in "Ebenezer."
- Running into Rod Stewart at the coffeeshop.
- Eating at Jimmy John's for the first time in more than 2 years on a driving break in Champaign, Illinois.
- Spending 5 days with my mom, dad, two sisters, and brother.
- Showing off our wedding album to the extended family at Christmas.
- Opening up our new Krups combination espresso/coffee machine.
- Taking the advice of my sister and leaving for home from my grandparents 7:30 Christmas night and the 14 hour car trip that followed.
- Chilling with my brother for a week.
- Going to a blowout of a New Year's Eve hockey game where there was a fight and a hat trick scored, and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins won.
- Shopping for snazzy new teaching clothes.
- Spending a week observing some of the English classes at Scranton Prep.
There you go. A quick update of what's been going on in the last month. Today begins the new semester at Marywood University. I'm definitely excited about being back in class. The break was nice and needed, but now I'm feeling refreshed and enthused about learning again.
I know, I'm a geek.
