Art and Sickness

Sunday Jillian and I went to Marywood's Senior Exhibition III, which highlighted work from graduating seniors of the various art programs of our university. We were personally invited by Jennifer Hamby, a friend of ours, who is immensely talented in several different media. She displayed 4 oil paintings and a large banner she designed for her father's publishing company, as well as having work to flip through in her portfolio. Jenn is a talented young woman, and I hope she goes far. The rest of the exhibit was hit or miss. I hate having studied photography and being overly critical of others' work, but there wasn't much that impressed me. Two or three nice photos, the rest were easy to walk away from. One guy is an illustrator that I really enjoyed, very comic-bookish, with cool style.

I've been fighting a cold since last Thursday, and I hope it has hit its crest yesterday and today. Headache, congestion, fatigue. Ick. Go away!

Last night Jason Silverstein came over to hang out with us. We made some rice with leftover chicken and some vegetables. I managed to ruin our steamer pot; Jill had done the prep while I showered, and I assumed for some reason she had put water in the pot. She didn't. I tried steaming brocolli and cauliflower without the essential water element. Oh well, live and learn. We had a nice hour and a half with Jason, good food, good conversation. I'd love to do things like that more.
